Grocery wholesaler Supervalu might be in the process of putting itself up for sale, according to a Bloomberg report, which did not cite a source except to note the information came from people familiar to the situation.
The company, which runs about 200 locations, provides items to more than 1,800 stores, according to Bloomberg. The report noted company shares jumped nearly 10 percent on the news.
The news comes as both traditional grocery brands and online giant Amazon are battling for a greater share of the grocery market.
