Target aims to pay an extra $2 an hour to retail associates and service center workers who work what the retailer calls peak days during the holiday season.
The peak days include Saturdays and Sundays between Nov. 20 and Dec. 19, as well as Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas, according to a CNBC report. Target's current minimum wage is $15 an hour.
Supply chain and service center workers can get the $2 more per hour for the peak periods from early October to mid December.
The news comes as the retailer previously announced it was hiring less workers this holiday than in past years and giving more hours to store and service center employees. It also comes at a time when retailers are dealing with hiring constraints and hurdles due to a labor shortage.
