Tariff concerns aren't stopping consumers from shopping at Amazon.
In fact, according to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, shoppers aren't tightening wallets, according to a CNBC report.
The pronouncement, at Amazon's virtual shareholder's meeting Wednesday, comes on the heels of Walmart announcing it will be increasing prices due to tariffs and the Home Depot declaring it won't be raising prices. Target said Wednesday it may need to increase prices.
In response to Walmart's news President Donald Trump told the biggest U.S. retailer to "eat the cost."
"We have not seen any attenuation of demand at this point," Jassy said during a question-and-answer portion of the meeting, according to the news outlet. "We also haven't yet seen any meaningful average selling price increases."
"I think that the diversity and the size of our marketplace really helps customers have the best selection of the best prices," Jassy said.
What's happening at Amazon may be unique given a Trade Winds study that revealed a good majority of American consumers, 75%, expect tariffs to take effect soon and 51% plan to cut non-essential purchases.
