The Container Store upgrading supply chain operation

May 7, 2012

The Container Store has selected Manhattan Associates Inc., a global supply chain optimization provider, to help organize its growing multichannel supply chain network. Headquartered in Coppell, Texas, The Container Store has 54 store locations nationwide with five additional stores to open in 2012. The company is in the process of expanding its 720,000-square-foot distribution center to 870,000 square feet to accommodate its expanding supply chain.

"We are incredibly proud to have posted an average 24 percent compounded annual growth rate since our inception in 1978, and as a result are excited to be enhancing our multichannel retail processes by upgrading our supply chain operations to better serve our customers, as well as our network of vendors and partners," Christy Parra, logistics systems director, The Container Store, said in a company press release. "The multichannel customer is the most valuable customer for us. We are always looking at the future and staying ahead of the industry curve, so this was a great opportunity to invest in our future growth."

The Container Store selected Manhattan's Warehouse Management, Slotting Optimization and Labor Management solutions from the Distribution Management suite of the Manhattan SCOPE portfolio, along with Yard Management from the Transportation Lifecycle Management suite. Other product purchases include Supply Chain Intelligence, Supply Chain Visibility, Supply Chain Event Management and Distributed Order Management.

Manhattan SCOPE connects the planning and execution pieces of the supply chain to activate opportunistic sharing of inventory across channels dynamically. By being able to see more inventory, retailers are able to sell more merchandise while buying less, according to the release.
