Spending on Valentine's Day gifts in the U.K. will be big this year with one research firm expecting it to double compared to 2020.
The average shopper in a relationship will spend about $50, up from an average of about $24 last year, according to an Emarsys retail survey.
The Emarsys study polled more than 2,000 consumers in the U.K.
When it comes to gifts, chocolate and flowers top the most popular list with 15% expecting to buy underwear and loungewear, according to a press release.
One reason may be the lockdowns and social distancing mandates that have kept most people in their homes this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Daily work wear quickly morphed into daily loungewear for many working at home.
