Geek Retreat, a gaming café and events retailer in the U.K., plans to open 60 stores by the end of 2021 which keeps it on track to meet its 100 new-store goal by 2022.
The franchise expansion will create 360 jobs, according to a press release. The company opened its first store in 2013, in Glasgow, and now operates 27 stores. The latest location opened in Cornwall last week.
The retailer sells geek culture items, including comics, posters and memorabilia.
"We are pressing ahead with our expansion plans and are on track to meet our target for new stores. Despite the impact the pandemic has had on the high street more generally, the Geek Retreat proposition and unique culture has proved particularly resilient and has shown us how important it is for people to have a safe please to visit and to share their interests with friends as part of a community," Peter Dobson, Geek Retreat CEO, said in the release.
