US shipping system crippled by online sales, snowstorms

The U.S. shipping system is fast becoming overwhelmed this holiday season due to three major factors: the surge of online shopping due to COVID-19, winter weather and consumer mail activity.

Six million packages a day are piling up, according to a ShipMatrix estimate, as reported by CBS News.

But just 3.5 million items are being picked up daily and not being delivered on time, according to ShipMatrix.
