Viewpoints acquires reviews platform PowerReviews

June 6, 2014

Consumer reviews platform Viewpoints announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire PowerReviews from Bazaarvoice. With the acquisition, the companies will unite under the PowerReviews brand to support the consumer engagement and customer reviews market. According to the companies, the combined company will leverage PowerReviews’ technology, a Software-as-a-Service platform for consumer engagement in use at more than 1,000 leading brands and retailers.

The PowerReviews Consumer Engagement Engine brings together four key capabilities:

  • Customer reviews and questions and answers
  • Content origination and syndication
  • Analytics, insights and ROI measurement
  • Services that help companies find new and better ways to blend together technology, data, content, design and marketing to increase consumer engagement

“In a world where consumers have more choices, more information and the ability to research and shop everywhere using mobile devices, consumers trust the opinions of other consumers more than any form of advertising or marketing,” said Matt Moog, CEO of the new PowerReviews. “PowerReviews is the engine that will provide the innovative consumer engagement solutions necessary for brands and retailers to compete in an omnichannel environment.”

The team of e-commerce, digital media and software professionals at PowerReviews will grow to more than 100 dedicated professionals. Moog will continue in his role as CEO. Jim Morris, founding CTO of PowerReviews, will become CTO of the new company, and Matt Parsons, former PowerReviews Vice President of Client Success, will assume the role of Chief Customer Officer. Chris Lubkert, previously with Viewpoints, will join the team as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Operations. The new company will be co-located in Chicago and San Francisco.

“The PowerReviews team has spent the past decade finding new ways to leverage technology and data to engage consumers, and we are thrilled to join forces with them to reinvigorate the customer reviews market,” said Moog. “We intend to continue the company’s growth and will look to hire for key positions in both Chicago and San Francisco.”
