Walmart's workforce will be stagnant over the next two to five years yet its business volume will be bigger.
The news that the biggest employer in the U.S. won't be expanding its headcount for years came from Walmart US President John Furner at a conference late last week, according to a Daily Mail report.
Technology, specifically AI, is playing a role in Walmart's workforce strategy, according to CEO Doug McMillon.
"It's very clear that AI is going to change literally every job. Maybe there's a job in the world that AI won't change, but I haven't thought of it," McMillon said during a recent conference at the company's headquarters.
Daniel Danker was hired recently as Walmart's executive vice president of AI acceleration, product and design.
