Marc Lore, who started Jet.com and became Walmart's e-commerce chief when the retailer bought his company in 2016, is leaving his role at the end of January.
Lore served as executive VP and CEO of Walmart's online division and he is leaving to focus on start-ups he has developed including Remarkable Foods, according to a New York Post report.
Walmart bought Jet.com, founded in 2014, for $3.3 billion in its biggest move against its biggest competitor, Amazon. Walmart integrated Jet.com into its prime e-commerce unit in 2019.
"Over the past couple of years, we have unified our store and e-commerce teams which better enables us to create one brand experience for our customers," Walmart said in a statement. "That was completed in 2020 and so our Walmart U.S. segment has been operating and continues to operate as an omnichannel business."
