Walmart is expanding its delivery strategy to become a "last mile" service for local retailers near its locations.
The mega retailer has launched Walmart GoLocal which will deliver packages via its Spark network, according to a New York Post report.
The news comes as big retailers, including Amazon, have increasingly expanded and pumped up delivery options given increased consumer online shopping during the past 18 months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Be it delivering goods from a local bakery to auto supplies from a national retailer, we've designed Walmart GoLocal to be customizable for merchants of all sizes and categories," Tom Ward, senior vice president of Walmart U.S. last mile business, told the news outlet.
Walmart has not revealed its pricing structure. The Spark network hits more than 500 U.S. cities.
