Walmart aims to reduce its workforce by cutting 1,500 job as part of a strategy to simplify operations.
The job cuts will be in global tech operations, U.S. e-commerce fulfillment and the company's Walmart Connect, according to a CNBC report, citing a memo viewed by Reuters.
"To accelerate our progress delivering the experiences that will define the future of retail, we must sharpen our focus," the memo said, according to the news outlet.
The news comes on the heels of Walmart warning it may have to pass on tariff costs to consumers. That announcement drew fast reaction from President Trump who told the biggest retailer in the U.S. to "eat the costs."
