In a quest to keep crowds down in its stores during the holiday shopping season, Walmart is slicing up its traditional Black Friday sales approach into a multi-weekend sales strategy that starts well before Thanksgiving.
It also plans to keep more 'doorbuster' deals for online sales only, according to a New York Post report.
The change up comes amidst a resurgence in coronavirus infections across the country and increasing wariness of consumers to shop in brick-and-mortar stores.
The Black Friday sales will kick off online Nov. 4, with more deals Nov.7. Then the second phase will start online Nov. 11 and another sales push on Nov. 14.
The sales celebration will conclude online Nov. 25 with new discounts offered in store on the traditional Black Friday, Nov. 27.
"If the deal is right, customers are willing to shop earlier," Scott McCall, chief merchandising officer at Walmart, told The Associated Press, according to the Post.
