IVM Inc., a supplier of industrial dispensing systems, is helping Wayfair, an e-commerce home products retailer, keep track of scanners its employees are using given greater frequency during the pandemic, according to an Inside Indiana Business interview with Mike Pitts, president of IVM Inc.

"It (the pandemic) has driven e-commerce through the roof," Pitts said during the interview. "That drove a lot of business to Wayfair. Their distribution centers were kind of being overwhelmed. All of their employees have these little hand scanners that they track an order through the distribution center.

"We developed Smart Vault to track those scanners," he said.

The scanners are charged in the Smart Vault when not in use.

Wayfair is introducing the technology to all of its distribution centers.

IVM launched in 1993 when a client, Union Pacific Railroad, asked the company to vend its personal protective equipment to its employees on an as-needed basis.
