Although deep-discount grocery chain Aldi offers a no-frills shopping experience, shoppers appreciate its measures to keep prices as low as possible, especially during a troubled economy. Customers don’t seem to mind renting a shopping cart for a quarter (refundable upon return), choosing from a limited selection or bringing their own shopping bags if it means more money remains in their pocketbooks. And Aldi backs up its private-label products with a double guarantee: If a customer isn’t 100 percent pleased with a product, Aldi replaces it and refunds the customer’s money.
