More than four out of every five Americans have a cell phone. Couple that fact with the increased interest in couponing to save money, and the time is ripe for mobile coupons. Through Kroger’s partnership with Cellfire, customers can use their phones to load coupons onto their Kroger Plus loyalty cards, saving on dozens of brands from manufacturers such as Kimberly-Clark, General Mills and Colgate Palmolive. Also significant: Mobile coupons have the potential to increase couponing among 18- to 24-year-olds, who are not likely to clip coupons out of the Sunday newspaper.
