This regional supermarket chain is giving customers what they want — and what they can really use. According to The Washington Post, Americans redeem only 1 percent to 3 percent of paper coupons. But Kroger claims that its regular customers use as many as half of the coupons it sends them. Thanks to Kroger’s data-mining efforts, the chain is able to give customers coupons for the items they buy regularly. Kroger has also added products such as mortgages, renter’s insurance and pet insurance to its financial services offerings.
