75. Financial services at supermarkets
January 13, 2010
More customers are jumping at the chance to do their banking while polishing off the grocery list. In-store branches tend to be full-service locations that are open six days per week with extended hours to accommodate shoppers' schedules. Consumer-friendly promotional opportunities abound, too, such as offering free groceries to new account holders or matching donations to local food pantries. Industry leader Kroger has even gone one step further, adding self-branded financial products such as mortgages and renter's insurance, all available at the point of sale.
