One of shoppers' biggest peeves is when the shelf display doesn't match what they're charged at the cash register. Their dissatisfaction at being overcharged far exceeds the dollar amount of the blunder and ultimately impacts trust. The ESL industry, still in its formative years, promises to increase efficiency and reduce labor costs using the store's existing lighting infrastructure to transfer pricing information to each SKU's shelf label. The industry's most tantalizing promise: instant price flexing.
