EuroShop RetailDesign Award: EHI awards prizes to the best store concepts

Awards were presented for the best store designs worldwide during the Retail Fair of the NRF BIG Show yesterday in New York.

January 11, 2010

For the third time, EHI, in collaboration with Messe Duesseldorf, presented the EuroShop RetailDesign Award to the best shops worldwide during the Retail Fair of the National Retail Federation yesterday in New York. About 250 guests were present at the Award ceremony.

An international jury of shopfitting experts have selected the three best stores among the candidates. The EuroShop RetailDesign Award refrains from categorizing according to industry branch or business size.

Apart from a successful design, the criteria applied included an integrated and consistent concept with a clear message, an unambiguous target group approach and a clearly recognizable corporate design.

Winners of the EuroShop RetailDesign Award 2010 (in alphabetical order):

El Palacio De Hierro, Guadalajara, Mexico

El Palacio De Hierro in Guadalajara received the award for its Guadalajara location, which opened in November 2008. According to EHI, "the store design keeps a perfect balance between store identity and boutiques with international brands. For this reason, the layout leads clients easily from one section to another, without missing the shopping experience."

Elord Golf Fashion, Seoul, South Korea

Elord Golf Fashion is a standalone flagship store for a luxury Korean golf brand. The building was designed as a massive bunker. The lounge is a "19th hole" bar and features a huge video showing images of the world's greatest golf courses and players. According to EHI, "the brand is positioned as a unique, sophisticated fashion golf brand while imitating a high tech specialist club house with experienced and friendly staff and all the up to date trends."

Intersport Bruendl, Kaprun, Austria

Intersport Bründl has been awarded for its flagship store in Kaprun, which opened in November 2008. According to EHI, "the store has been inspired by the typical alpine physiognomy but at the same time it smoothly breaks with these typical surroundings by establishing a very bold, polarizing and urban architecture. The artificial landscape of the shopping world has been linked to the real world outside by the roof made of glass. The store has become a place of communication and creates high amenity values. The interior structure of the store provides that the four selling floors will be visited all the same."

The Award Ceremony was sponsored by Umdasch Shop-Concept, a shopfitting company in Europe.
