With the national retail vacancy rate at a three-year high, temporary shops popping up in empty spaces have proved an attractive option for business owners and landlords alike. Evolving from the concept store-within-a-store merchandising flash points, these small, temporary shops allow companies to push products for a limited time, usually in a highly visible area. Some pop-ups exist primarily to unload old inventory or to build buzz and promote demand for new products in order to generate profitable sales at other locations.
