Once upon a time, delayed air travelers had to settle for browsing meager newsstands and snacking on food court cuisine. Things have changed, however. Many of today’s airports offer a bounty of dining and shopping opportunities within the confines of security checkpoints. Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport boasts more than 50 retail shops and nearly 30 restaurants, lounges and snack bars, plus gift shops from the major hotel/casinos, a children’s play area, fitness center, pet relief areas and more than 1,200 slot machines. The airport is less than a mile from the Vegas Strip, but there’s really no reason to leave.
