The U.S. retail industry ended 2019 on a strong financial note with a 0.3% sales jump in December.
Every big segment, except for car sales and department stores, reported stronger sales as the year came to a close, according to a Market Watch report. Overall, for the 2019 time span, retail sales increased 5.8%, a bit over the average for the last three decades.
Segment sales that were the strongest included electronics, sporting good and clothing stores.
