A revival of Blockbuster Video? Online website indicates yes

The last Blockbuster Video store closed four years ago but online rumours are swirling the once popular entertainment brand may be back in play.

The speculation began with a web page depicting the logo and this message: "We are working on rewinding your movie," according to a Yahoo report.

But it could easily just be some Internet jokester given Blockbuster's owner, Dish Network, is silent regarding the rumor and has stated it has no plans to franchise locations of the chain though it's moving ahead on any merchandising opportunities.

The iconic brand had 9,000 stores across the world in 2004 before Dish bought it from bankruptcy proceedings 12 years ago. At that point Blockbuster had about 600 stores still operating. But that number quickly declined with just a dozen stores operating by 2017.
