Come November 1, Amazon will pay a higher minimum wage in the U.S. — $15 an hour.
The wage hike is more than double the federal wage of $7.25. It will be available to full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees.
"We listened to our critics, thought hard about what we wanted to do, and decided we want to lead," said Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in a blog post. He called on other large retailers and businesses to make the same change.
