Amazon deploying drone delivery service in Texas

Amazon plans to deploy drone delivery service in College Station, Texas later this year.

The news comes about a month since it announced launching drone service in Lockeford, California.

The College Station location was chosen due to its small-town feel and sense of community, according to an Amazon blog. The omnichannel retailer plans to partner with researchers at Texas A&M on drone development.

"We are impressed with so many aspects of College Station," stated the blog post. "The innovative research conducted by Texas A&M University, the small-town feel and the sense of community that is clear from the minute you arrive in town all make it a very special place."
