Amazon driving same-day, next-day delivery into more than 4K cities

Amazon plans to expand same-day and next-day delivery to customers in more than 4,000 small cities, towns and rural communities by year's end.

As of June the number of items delivered same or next day in the U.S. has increased over 30% compared to the same time 2024, according to a press release.

"Everybody loves fast delivery. So, whether you live in Monmouth, Iowa or in downtown Los Angeles, now you're going to have the same fantastic Amazon customer experience: the ability to get the wide variety of items you need to keep your household running every day, delivered the same or next day," Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, said in the release.

In the first quarter of 2025, Amazon's fast delivery speeds helped drive its everyday essentials selection to grow more than twice as fast as all other categories in the U.S.
