A slew of Amazon customers received a puzzling email this week alerting them that someone had bought them a gift off a baby registry.
The problem is many of the customers didn't have a baby registry set up and likely many aren't having a baby or even have a child, according to a CNN report.
The email note, which stated "a gift is on the way," was addressed generically to "Amazon Customer," with a link for the recipient to check out the "thank you" list.
But the link, according to CNN, directed some recipients to a new registry setup page or was just a broken link.
The report stated Amazon attributed the email snafu to a technical issue and that Amazon was reaching out to customers who received the emails.
