Amazon goes to the hub for delivery

Amazon is launching yet another product delivery option, this one called Hubs by Amazon, aimed at consumers living in apartments and homes.

Hub works for deliveries from any retailer, not just Amazon, and are being established within apartment complexes and neighborhoods for product storage, according to a press release. The news comes as Amazon continues to expand its delivery options, the latest featuring car trunk and in-home delivery.

At a Hub delivery people use a code to open the hub and leave the package — whether it's being delivered by the post office, FedEx or UPS. The consumer gets an alert a package is in the Hub for them and are given their own code to gain access.

According to media reports Amazon has signed on property managers including J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Equity Residential to put Hubs in play.
