Amazon, Uber and Instacart have jointly file a federal lawsuit to stop enforcement of a measure that limits when delivery platforms can remove a driver without stipulating a valid reason.
The suit, filed against New York City, focuses on a law that will take effect January 2027 which mandates delivery company state a valid reason for removing a driver from its services. The companies claim it violates constitutional protections for free speech and due process, according to a Seeking Alpha report.
The lawsuit, Uber Technologies (UBER) v. City of New York filed in Manhattan federal court, comes on the heels of a similar legal battle won by Uber and Lyft. The rideshare companies legally blocked a similar law regarding delivery drivers.
