Amazon outage impacts delivery, warehouse operations

December 7, 2021

An Amazon Web Services outage incident today is impacting the retailer's delivery and warehouse operations as well as customer websites.

The news comes as the holiday sales season is in full swing and an increasing number of shoppers are buying gifts online this season.

The cloud computing division reported issues in the US-East-1 Region, according to a CNBC report.

"We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-East-1 Region," according to a notice Amazon posted late morning. "We have identified root cause and we are actively working towards (sic) recovery."

The incident crashed tools used by the online retailer's warehouse and delivery employees as well as its Flex service, making it impossible to access routes or scan packages.

The outage also impacted a wide range of companies, from Coinbase to Disney streaming services, as well as Netflix and a stock trading app, according to the news report.
