Amazon revamps rating process to make reviews more valuable

The world’s biggest etailer hopes to make product reviews more valuable, and more trustworthy, for consumers by revamping and re-weighing actual reviews.

The world’s biggest etailer hope to make product reviews more valuable, and more trust worthy for consumers by revamping and re-weighing actual reviews.

In essence the better written and verified review, provided by a legitimate product owner, will be more prominent in the rating que.

Additionally, ratings and feedback that get high scores from shopper will also rise to the top of the rankings and feedback segment on a product description.

As PC Mag reported, it may be a bit hard to discern the changes at first since the rating revamp just kicked off this weekend.

"It's just meant to make things that much more useful so people see things and know it reflects the current product experience," an Amazon spokesperson, of the new system, told CNET.

Part of the strategy is Amazon’s continued effort to rid product ratings and reviews of phony and bogus feedback.
