Amazon shuttering Kindle store in China

Amazon is closing its Kindle store in China and, as of July 2023, Kindle users in the country will not be able to buy books at the retailer's online book store.

The retailer stopped providing Kindle devices for sale to other retailers last week, according to a CNN report.

"Amazon China's long-term commitment to customers will not change," Amazon said in a statement. "We have established an extensive business foundation in China and will continue to innovate and invest."

Amazon will continue to run an online store in China allowing "overseas" purchases," Amazon said in its statement.
