Amazon's new Virginia center will hire on 1K workers

April 5, 2017

Amazon is expanding its fulfillment center footprint in Virginia, as it plans to open a new center in Clear Brook.

The 1-million-square-foot location will create more than 1,000 full time jobs. The e-tailer currently employees 3,500 full time hourly workers at its current three Virginia centers, according to a press release.

"Our ability to expand in the Commonwealth is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in the state," Akash Chauhan, vice president of North America operations, said in the release. "We are excited to grow in support of the more than 85,000 authors, sellers, and developers in Virginia growing their businesses and reaching new customers on Amazon products and services."

Workers at the impending Clear Brook fulfillment center will pick, pack and ship larger customer items.
