Retail Design Diva: The gas crisis is spurring some retailers into creative action as they develop new ways to drive customer traffic. A Safeway store in Kennewick, Wash., recently gave away 10 free gallons of gas from 6 a.m.-9 a.m. one Friday morning, while Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid Corp. announced its "Fill Up & Fuel Up" program that starts today and runs through Jan. 10, 2009. The program awards customers who transfer prescriptions to Rite Aid with a $30 store gift card, and then enters them into a sweepstakes to win one year of free gas.
