Belk puts unexpected surprise into online holiday shopping experience

Belk is surprising more than a few online holiday shoppers this holiday season with a "Verry Merry Surprise" program that awards a gift card to a customer each day in each of its nearly 300 stores.
The holiday program, which will run through Dec. 24, is aimed at adding a "dash of fun" into the shopping experience, according to a press release.
One customer will be chosen to get the gift card when they order using the retailer's BOPIS or curbside pickup options. The card is given to shoppers by "festive elves" and reflects the cost of the shopper's online order, up to $575.
With safety a top priority given the ongoing COVID-19, Belk is offering an extra 10% off to customers who purchase online and pick up in-store or curbside. The retailer has already given more than 8,000 gift cards valued over $200,000 to shoppers using curbside and in-store pickup options.
