Best Buy set to debut new in-store concept

February 1, 2010

Best Buy is getting ready to unveil a new store-within-a-store concept at its Metro Pointe store in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Magnolia Design Center will open on Feb. 26, according to a report from the OC Register.

Distinct from the existing Magnolia Home Theater in-store venues, the new showroom promises to "kick up the auditory and visual experience several notches to appeal to serious audiovisual aficionados, among others. The design center will carry premium brands such as McIntosh, MartinLogan and Sonus faber, other house-related electronics such as whole home automation systems, as well as solar solutions. Think of the design center as something like a grown-up man's version of a tricked-out FAO Schwarz boutique inside Toys R Us."

The store will be built around the world's largest plasma HDTV, a 103-inch screen from Panasonic that will retail for $60,000.
