BJ’s Wholesale Club taps retail veteran for COO, president role

New leader is former CEO of Hess Retail and takes new role as of Sept. 8.

Christopher J. Baldwin is the new president and COO for BJ’s Wholesale Club and will oversee merchandising, membership, marketing, logistics and club operations.

"I am very excited to welcome Chris to the BJ's team," said Laura Sen, BJ's CEO, in a press announcement. "Chris' record of excellence in leading large and successful organizations in the retail and consumer sectors will help us to build upon BJ's strong heritage of offering a distinctive shopping experience and deep value proposition to BJ's millions of loyal members."

A 30-year-plus industry veteran, Baldwin previously most recently served as the CEO of Hess Retail Corporation. Prior to Hess he served in a variety of leadership roles, including president of Snacks at Kraft Foods (Nabisco), president of North America at the Hershey Company and several executive roles at Procter and Gamble.
