Boscov's taps Checkpoint System tech to boost sales, decrease shrink

October 8, 2018

Retailer Boscov's is using CableLok, a retail security system from Checkpoint, to drive sales while also reducing shrink in a number of its retail locations.

The largest family owned department store is aiming to discourage shoplifting while not impacting the sales environment or the customer experience when it comes to browsing expensive merchandise, according to a press release.

The technology features a flashing LED and alarm in a lanyard design and built for apparel retail needs. Boscov's is using it for high-end brand items including products from Michael Kors and Calvin Klein, according to the release.

Mike Conaway, director of risk management and loss prevention for Boscov's, said the new security approach is providing customers with increased access and has helped drive sales.

"The initial testing of CableLok was immediately successful because the system is easy to use, requires no maintenance and associates can be trained to use it in a manner of minutes," he said in the release.
