A British supermarket chain, Tesco, is piloting a new check-out line for shoppers suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's in order to make the shopping experience more relaxed and eliminate shopper stress.
The new "relaxed" lines, which provide shoppers additional time for payment, are being tested at a Scotland store location, complete with staff members trained to understand the challenges those with dementia are dealing with. The checkout lines are also accessible to other shoppers dealing with significant illness such as Parkinson's, according to an AARP report.
