The U.S. Congress held a hearing on facial recognition Tuesday, the second such discussion in two weeks, as critics claim the technology threatens consumer privacy and has questionable accuracy, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
Last month, San Francisco banned the use of facial recognition technology by law enforcement while other cities, including Somerville, Massachusetts and Oakland, California are considering similar laws.
The American Civil Liberties Union opposes the technology's use and is developing a guide for communities seeking to restrict it.
