Consumers are loving sweets and the increased demand for candy and chocolate could mean a shortage come October.

That's a warning issued by Hershey CEO Michele Buck, according to a CNN report.

"We will not be able to fully meet consumer demand," said Buck in remarks about the company's second quarter in late July.

Both consumer demand for candy and a bigger interest in Halloween are playing a role, according to the news report.

Hershey is also struggling with supply chain disruptions as well as inflationary costs with dairy products, according to the report.
