Costco arrival in China leads to chaotic customer experience

To say consumers in China are excited about Costco's debut there would be an understatement.

Costco Wholesale Corp. recently opened the doors to its first China outlet, located in Shanghai, and bedlam ensued with shoppers battling over products and spending hours in checkout lines, according to a Bloomberg report.

The chaotic consumer response forced the retailer to close store operations due to customer traffic. Online social media chatter revealed that some shoppers waited three hours to just get into the parking lot.
