Costco, Dillard's tops in satisfying consumers, reveals report

March 6, 2017

When it comes to customer satisfaction, department store Dillard's and Costco are tops, with both scoring 83 out of 100 on the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

"[Costco] has that model of: this is what we do, this is who we are, what we sell and we are going to do it really well," said David Van Amburg, managing director at ACSI, told CNN. "They aren't the fanciest or flowery looking store, but they put that money into good prices and staffing."

Overall, customer satisfaction increased 4.7 percent in the latest poll, after two years of declines.

"Stores have committed to improving customer services and improving the in-store experience," VanAmburg told CNN.

Wal-Mart boosted its rating, with a 9 percent score increase over 2015 but it's still low in the rankings.
