Costco teaming with payment platform Affirm

Costco is offering customers a new way to pay for large purchases (between $500 and $17,500) via a partnership with Affirm, a pay-over-time payment platform.
The payment option goes live this week. Costco members who want to sign up must go through a real-time eligibility check with Affirm and then select which monthly payment option they want, according to a press release.
"As summer approaches, we're seeing more consumers turn to Affirm to prepare for the season ahead — whether it's outdoor entertaining essentials, like a new barbecue or patio furniture, a storage shed, or a new set of appliances," Pat Suh, Affirm SVP of revenue, said in the release. "Costco members in particular know the value of planning ahead and buying in bulk. We're excited to offer them an alternative to traditional credit, helping them confidently manage their spending on larger purchases without hidden fees."
