In order to be prepared for flu season and the continuing coronavirus pandemic, CVS plans to hire 15,000 workers with more than half in full-time and part-time pharmacy roles.
The news comes as COVID-19 is spiking across the nation and consumer demand for flu shots given the coronavirus is on the rise, according to a CNBC report. The additional staff may also play a role in dispensing a COVID-19 vaccine as federal health agencies approve local pharmacy involvement.
CVS, according to CNBC, is running 4,000-plus COVID-19 drive-thru testing sites and handled close to 5 million tests.
