A Dillard's retail store associate not only never missed a day's work in her 74 years with the retailer, she retired a bit later than most — at the age of 90.
The Texas woman, Melba Mebane, began working as a store elevator girl in 1949, at the age of 17, and then was promoted to the cosmetics department, according to a New York Post report.
During her seven-decade-plus tenure she never took a sick day or missed a day of work, according to James Saenz, a store manager. Even in her 80s she worked full-time hours.
"Melba sets the tone for everything, every expectation, every customer service quality that we look for in a luxury experience," Saenz told a news outlet.
"I loved everybody there, and I loved to go to work," Mebane told Texas station KLTV7.
