Former Kohl's leader joins retailer Albertsons

Gautam Kotwal, a former Kohl's leader, is now executive vice president and chief data and analytics officer at Albertsons Llc.

Data and data analytics are a big focus for Albertsons, said President and COO Jim Donald, according to a Progressive Grocer report. Kotwal will oversee the company's omnichannel strategy and advance efforts to personalize the consumer experience.

At Kohl's, Kotwal developed the retailer's BigData team, and prior to that he was an engineering manager at Netflix.

Albertsons operates across 35 states and Washington, D.C., with brands including Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, Acme, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen and Carrs. It also owns meal kit company Plated, according to the report.
