Some Etsy sellers are tapping into the millennial market in an innovative way. In addition to operating on a traditional business model of profit, these sellers also see the value in investing in causes to help children, animals, disaster relief and more using the GoCause app.
"83 percent of millennials expect businesses to do more than they are already doing to help the world," according to a Forbes report. Etsy's total year-end sales in 2015 were $2.4 billion and, on average, an Etsy seller using the GoCause app donates 20 to 25 percent of each purchase.
Forbes states that if 10 percent of Etsy sellers use GoCause the donations could total between $50 and $60 million.
