Google has launched AI Mode, a virtual try-on tool that works with shoppers' photos and offers guidance and product data.

When shopping on Google, consumers can tap the "try it on" icon on product listings. From there they can upload a full-length photo and see how the item looks them.

"Our new AI Mode experience is built for every part of shopping — from finding inspiration to buying at the right moment," states a Google blog on the tool announcement.

The tool provides shoppers with a virtual dressing room and a "agentic checkout experience" using Gemini capabilities with a shopping graph for inspirational browsing.

The shopping graph houses more than 50 billion product listings, from global retailers to local mom and pop shops, each with details like reviews, prices, color options and availability.

The agentic checkout helps shoppers purchase at a price fitting their budget. Shoppers tap "track price" on any product listing and set the right size, color (or whatever options you prefer) and the amount they want to spend.

The tool adds item to the cart on the merchant's site and complete the checkout with Google Pay. The agentic checkout feature will be rolling out in the coming months to product listings in the U.S., according to the blog post.

The "try on" experiment is now rolling out in Search Labs in the U.S.
